Annual Quiz
Six teams attending the annual quiz and fought it out for the Challenge Trophy. It was nice to see so many faces at the quiz, including several new ones. Congratulations to the Wheatley Wanderers who won for the second year running. Thanks go to Lyn for devising another excellent quiz.
Festive Meal
As usual this was a very enjoyable evening with delicious food. The Sun Inn has a deservedly good reputation for food and it was nice to catch up with members in a purely social setting.
Public spirited thanks
Many thanks to Maxine Leszczyszyn who recently went out of her way to help a horse in distress. She noticed that the horse was ill in the field and helped one of our members to get the horse into the stable and call the vet. The horse was quite old and unfortunately had to be put down Thank you Maxine for your assistance and support at a difficult time.
Mystery gate at Southowram
We recently received a report of a new gate that has been put in place on a Southowram bridleway. The gate seems to serve no purpose other than hinder free passage of bridleway users. Although unlocked (so not causing a legal obstruction) the gate is nevertheless causing annoyance especially to horse riders who have to dismount in order to open and close it. We have notified the council who are looking at the issue.
